The Aerial Advantage

Why aerial photography matters for your listing

Ground-level photos tell part of the story. Aerial tells the rest. Here's what changes when you add an elevated perspective to your listing.

01

Location context that drives value

Buyers don't just buy a house — they buy a location. Aerial shots reveal what's around the property: nearby schools, supermarkets, parks, beaches, and shopping centres. These amenities feed directly into a property's value.

02

Boundary lines bring clarity

Overhead shots show buyers exactly what they're getting. Section size, boundary lines, the relationship between the house and the land — all visible in a single frame. This removes ambiguity and builds confidence before a buyer even visits.

03

A clearer, more compelling story

Aerial adds a dimension that ground-level content can't deliver. It helps tell the full story of a property — its setting, its scale, its relationship to the surrounding environment. In both stills and video, this makes the listing more engaging and more memorable.

Our Approach

Aerial is included in every listing package

We include aerial in every listing package because it's not an optional extra — it's how property should be marketed. Ground-level photos tell part of the story. Aerial tells the rest.

Essentials package: Ground photography + aerial photography included as standard.

Premium & Luxury packages: Ground photography + aerial photography + ground video + aerial video — all included.

We don't separate aerial out as a line item because it's not a luxury — it's a requirement for marketing a property properly. If you'd prefer to exclude aerial, we can remove it from your package.

Aerial Photos

When aerial shots make the biggest difference

Not every listing needs the same treatment, but some properties are incomplete without an aerial perspective.

  • Large sections — 600m² and above
  • Waterfront or coastal properties
  • Lifestyle blocks and rural properties
  • Properties near parks, reserves, or schools
  • Properties with views worth showing
  • Sections where boundaries are hard to convey from ground level
  • New builds on bare sections

Aerial Video

Cinematic aerial video that tells the full story

Stills capture a moment. Video captures the experience. Aerial video reveals scale through movement — flyovers show the journey from street to property, sweeping shots capture views in a way a single frame never can.

  • 4K cinematic flyover footage
  • Property reveal sequences
  • Neighbourhood sweeps showing surrounding amenities
  • Colour graded and delivered as standalone or integrated into your walkthrough video

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before booking

When does a listing need aerial photography? +
Every listing benefits from aerial — that's why we include it in all our packages. But some properties especially need it: large sections, waterfront properties, lifestyle blocks, homes near parks or schools, and any property where boundary lines or views are part of the selling story.
What's the difference between aerial stills and aerial video? +
Aerial stills are high-resolution photos captured from above — ideal for TradeMe, realestate.co.nz, and print marketing. Aerial video is cinematic flyover footage that shows movement and scale — perfect for social media, open home promotion, and agent branding content. Both are included in our Premium and Luxury packages.
How much does aerial photography cost on its own? +
Standalone aerial stills start from $175. Aerial video from $195. Both combined from $295. Most clients don't need to pay separately though — aerial is included in all our listing packages.
Can I exclude aerial photography from my package? +
Yes. If you'd prefer not to include aerial, we can remove it from your package. Just let us know when you book.
Can you guarantee drone operations on the day? +
We'll always look to capture your property as best we can and as safely as we can. Strong winds and heavy rain will stop us from flying — we don't want to risk having the drone fall out of the sky and putting people and property at risk. If that happens, we capture the aerial media on another day when conditions allow. If weather or time constraints for the property's marketing campaign make a reshoot impractical, we can refund the vendor the price of the aerial media.
When is the best time to book a shoot that includes aerial? +
Aim for days with light wind and clear skies. If you can, avoid booking on your area's rubbish and recycling collection day — bins on the kerb and trucks in the street don't make for great aerial shots. We check conditions before every shoot and will let you know if we need to adjust the schedule.
What happens if the weather changes on shoot day? +
Auckland weather is unpredictable — we get it. If conditions aren't safe for aerial on the day, we'll reschedule the aerial portion at no extra charge. We'd rather get it right than risk a poor result or an unsafe flight.
Do you comply with CAA regulations? +
Yes. All Bash & Co aerial operations are conducted in compliance with Civil Aviation Authority Part 101 guidelines. We complete airspace checks and log our flights with Airshare, making sure we comply with flight restrictions and nearby aerodromes.
How long does an aerial shoot take on-site? +
Typically 15–20 minutes of flight time. It's quick, low-disruption, and often completed alongside your ground photography or video shoot.
Do you fly near airports or in restricted airspace? +
Properties near airports or in controlled airspace require additional clearance. We check airspace restrictions for every shoot location before confirming the booking. If clearance can't be obtained, we'll let you know upfront so there are no surprises on the day.
