How it works

Real estate media, built on a marketing foundation

I started shooting property photography professionally in 2021, alongside a marketing career that was already well underway. At the end of 2025, I made it official and went full time with Bash & Co.

But the foundation was laid long before the first listing shoot. I spent seven years in marketing and communications — first as Marketing and Communications Lead at NielsenIQ across the Pacific region, then as Head of Social Media for NielsenIQ globally. That second role covered social media strategy, content production, and personal brand positioning across global markets and multiple platforms simultaneously.

That experience shaped how I approach real estate media. I think about how a hero image will perform in the first three seconds on Trade Me. I think about how a floor plan helps a buyer pre-qualify before the open home. I think about how a headshot needs to work on a listing panel, a LinkedIn profile, and a for-sale sign all at once. And when I work with agents on personal branding, I bring the same strategic thinking I used to apply to global campaigns — just focused on one agent, one market, one brand.

Behind the scenes

Me and my 'Co'

I'm Bashar Basheer — the founder, photographer, editor, and everything in between at Bash & Co. I'm based on the North Shore with my wife Janie and our three boys, all under five.

The "Co" in Bash & Co started as a nod to the family behind the scenes — Janie who keeps things running when I'm out on shoots, and the boys who are mostly interested in whether I brought the drone home.

Between family and business, life is full in the best kind of way. Mornings start early, the house is loud, and there's always someone who needs something — which, honestly, is great preparation for managing a shoot schedule across Auckland.

I'm building something I believe in — a company where real estate agents get a genuine competitive advantage from their media, and where the work I put out reflects the standard I'd want for my own home. When I'm not on a shoot, I'm writing for the Insights blog, building e-learning courses for agents who want to sharpen their own marketing, or on the floor with three small humans who are convinced bedtime is optional.

What are your working hours?

Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm. Shoots, editing, and delivery all happen within those hours. I keep Saturdays clear for family and rest, and that rhythm is part of how I maintain the quality and energy I bring to every shoot during the week.

Will I get the same photographer every time?

Every time. Every shoot, every edit, every delivery is handled by me personally. That consistency is built into how the business works.

What areas of Auckland do you cover?

All of mainland Auckland — Hibiscus Coast, North Shore, Auckland Central, East Auckland, West Auckland, and South Auckland. No travel surcharges anywhere in that area.
